NYU ENROLLS ALLSEATING

New York University’s (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts is a campus where artists go to learn, collaborate and grow within their chosen artistic endeavor. Students flood the classrooms and corridors with creative ideas and are always in need of spaces to work individually or collaborate as a group.

NYU wanted a modern, clean and functional redesign for some of their most populated spaces, including the Dramatic Arts Writing Lounge and Student Center. The redesign needed to be modular and reconfigurable to evolve with the needs of the school over time. It also needed to reflect the needs of the students, which included more opportunities to do short and long-term work productively yet comfortably.

Allseating was selected by NYU because of our innovative, yet affordable designs that reflect a progressive working atmosphere for the next generation of creative thinkers. We worked with the school in a personalized way, understanding their needs and providing a truly tailored solution.

Exchange, a modular, award-winning soft seating system, was the perfect solution. It can create nearly endless configurations, giving educational environment the flexibility it needs to promote collaboration among students. As the school’s need change over time, Exchange can be easily reconfigured and updated with additional parts and features. The removable seat covers make it easy to clean and renew the visual aesthetic with new textiles. Exchange was designed to accommodate fluctuating occupancy with style and comfort, and support the needs of working individuals with its functional tablets, surfaces, power/USB plug-ins, perfectly angled backrests and soft but supportive seats for relaxed and focused work.

In Tisch’s Reise Lounge, Tuck and Jif are the perfect fit for students pulling up a seat to join a collaborative session. Tuck provides a lightweight design that allows it to be neatly stacked and stored – granting students the option to expand or contract their collaboration sessions. Its sturdy frame with a clean aesthetic allows for continued, high-density use in populated spaces. Jif’s handle allows users to maneuver easily, supporting inclusive areas and encouraging teamwork. Its subtle waterfall edge provides hamstring relief so users can sit and collaborate comfortably for longer periods of time. NYU upholstered both Tuck and Jif vibrantly in Knoll Vibe ll, which brought fun pops of colour to the lounge area.

It was incredibly inspiring to work with NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. We’re proud to have brought life to the spaces where the next generation of creative thinkers explore new ideas.
